Sign upon leaving Clark. May have gotten out juty in time.
Left Clark early - made the 42 miles by 10 AM. Good riding today but the heat continues to rule. There is a nice little park here with camping but it is just too hot to camp and shade is scarce. Even motorcyclists are quitting early. Met another bicyclist today, also solo, headed for Seattle. He sat out today because of the heat. Flushed a couple of Pheasants today - Redfield is known as Pheasant City. Did the laundry at the Pheasant City Laundromat - cleaner bathroom than some motels.
May sit out again tomorrow - low temp tonight is forecast to be 84!
284 miles down. Glad you're getting some down time. Just amazingly hot and humid here too, but the tomatoes and peppers are thriving. Blackbirds and pheasants - umm - is there a theme here? Stay cool and be safe.
ReplyDeleteKeep looking up for King Jesus? Is it going to be an alien escort this time? Probably more worth while to keep your eyes on the road. Good average speed today. I imagine it is motivating to avoid the heat. Glad you are resting during the worst of it. Hopefully with some elevation the heat will be cut down, but beware the sun and take it easy on the grades, which it sounds like you are already encountering. The whole adventure really looks awesome. Looking forward to seeing you on your arrival in California. Take good care and see you soon.
ReplyDeleteYou picked a fine time to leave us Steve!!
ReplyDeleteIt's Tuesday and we haven't heard from you. Did you get raptured up? No, seriously, how are you dealing with this heat. I see it was 101 in Redfield.
ReplyDeleteI'm trying to watch your blog daily. Can't imagine how you handle this heat. I'm even canceling golf games. TOO hot.
